Oh Annie

An exhibition of renowned American photographer, Annie Leibovitz’s work has been showing at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney from November, and will continue to do so until 26 April 2011.

For those unaware of her extraordinary collection, Leibovitz’s work is a must see. Starting out in the 1970s, she has received critical acclaim for her shots in Rolling Stones Magazine and Vanity Fair. Responsible for the infamous photo of Lennon and Yoko Ono, or the recent photo of Miley Cyrus, her work will not cease to cause a stir.

At the heart of the exhibition are images which record the personal moments from Leibovitz’s life, including births, deaths, reunions and vacations. It also features portraits of well-known figures, including actors Brad Pitt, Demi Moore and Nicole Kidman, Patti Smith, Johnny Cash and Mick Jagger.
For those of you who are unable to make it to Sydney to go to “A Photographer’s Life 1990-2005”, perhaps have look at her documentary “Life through a Lens” which is equally as intriguing. Shame the exhibition isn’t coming to Melbourne.

Here are a few of her ‘fairytale’ shots that really do take you to another world.
